The eighth round of the Saudi First Division League gets under way tomorrow with three matches, led by a top-of-the-table clash between second-placed Al-Zulfi and leaders Al-Ula — the only two sides yet to lose this season.
Al-Ula have 18 points from 6 games with a match in hand, while Al-Zulfi have 13 points from 7 games, with three wins and four draws. Also on the opening day, Damac and Al-Taee both look to bounce back from heavy defeats: Damac lost 3-0 away to Al-Najma, and Al-Taee were beaten 6-1 at Al-Wehda. Damac sit 10th on 9 points, Al-Taee 8th on 10. In a Qassim derby, seventh-placed Al-Raed, on 10 points, host Al-Saqr, 12th with 7.
On Tuesday, Hajer meet Al-Najma, Al-Orobah host Al-Bukiryah and Al-Adalah travel to Al-Akhdoud. Hajer, whose last game against Al-Orobah was postponed, are 16th on 6 points; Al-Najma are fifth on 10. Al-Orobah, 12th on 7 points with a game in hand, chase their second win against bottom side Al-Bukiryah, 18th with 2 points. Al-Adalah (9th, 9 points) and Al-Akhdoud (14th, 7 points) both drew last time out.
The round closes on Wednesday with Al-Jeel v Al-Jandal, Al-Anwar v Al-Wehda and Jeddah v Al-Jabalain. Al-Jeel, 17th on 2 points with a game in hand, are still looking for a first win against Al-Jandal, 15th on 6. Al-Wehda, fourth on 11 after the season's biggest win so far, face sixth-placed Al-Anwar, one point behind on 10. Third-placed Al-Jabalain, on 12 points, visit Jeddah, who are 11th on 8.
