The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) has won first and third places in the Arab world in the 'Arab Pulse Wave' initiative, run by the Arab Resuscitation Council to mark World Restart a Heart Day. The results were announced at the council's fourth scientific conference.
SRCA's Eastern Region branch came top in the Arab world by number of people trained, teaching CPR and first-aid skills to 101,071 people through its 'Nabd Al-Sharqiya' (Eastern Pulse) initiative.
The authority's general directorate of volunteering in Riyadh ranked third, with 32,067 people trained, bringing the combined total for the two entities to 133,138.
The conference honoured the four entities with the highest numbers of trainees in recognition of their work to spread CPR awareness and lifesaving skills.
The two rankings reflect SRCA's efforts to expand community training, build partnerships across sectors and equip members of the public with basic first-aid skills to improve emergency preparedness, supporting the Saudi Vision 2030 goals of improving quality of life and increasing community participation.
