The gaming sector was the focus of the first "Media Council" session, held today by the Ministry of Media, through its Media Sector Development Agency, at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh and attended by Vice Minister of Media Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Mughlooth.
Launched at the direction of Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary, the initiative aims to open a direct channel with people working across the media sector, involve them in discussing challenges and opportunities, and draw on their experience to develop the industry.
Participants included Princess Reem bint Saif Al-Islam bin Saud, Vice President for Strategy and Enablement at the General Authority for Media Regulation; the ministry's Deputy Minister for Media Sector Development; the authority's general supervisor of gaming; and content creators, developers, professional players and representatives of esports teams and specialised organisations, among them Falcons.
The open discussion covered the state of the sector, the main obstacles facing creators, developers and players, opportunities for growth, and proposals to improve the professional environment and broaden cooperation. Participants were able to present their experiences directly to the relevant authorities.
The Media Council is intended as an ongoing space for dialogue with all parts of the media sector, using professional insight to address challenges and identify opportunities for development.
