Ten students from seven Arab countries have won the second edition of the Madak Space Competition, the Saudi Space Agency (SSA) announced, wrapping up a contest that drew more than 105,000 participants from 22 Arab countries.
The competition aims to spark creativity and give young people the chance to turn their ideas and projects into experiments that reach space. It ran in three age-based tracks: arts for children aged 6 to 11, science for ages 12 to 14 and engineering for ages 15 to 18. Entries went through several rounds of assessment by a jury of experts.
Winners in the arts track came from Oman, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which had two winners. The science track was won by students from Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, while the engineering winners came from Iraq, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The first edition attracted more than 80 thousand entries from 22 Arab countries and also produced ten winners. The agency said the contest reflects its efforts to build capabilities, develop human capital and promote a culture of innovation in space among Arab students.
