The Cabinet, meeting today in Jeddah under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, welcomed the outcomes of the first meeting of the Strategic Political Defence Committee of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan. The meeting agreed on further institutional steps, including a General Secretariat based in the Kingdom and the activation of joint cooperation mechanisms, to strengthen coordination, ensure effective deterrence and collective defense, and support international security and regional efforts for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace.
Ministers also reviewed the Kingdom's recent consultations with other countries, including a message received by the Crown Prince from Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said that, after reviewing the outcomes of the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, the Cabinet reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for every effort to strengthen the organization's role in serving Islamic causes and Muslims' hopes for peace and stability. It congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as OIC secretary-general and thanked his predecessor, Hissein Brahim Taha, for his efforts.
The Cabinet praised national efforts that brought the number of WHO-accredited healthy cities in the Kingdom to 21, the National Greening Program's United Nations award for World Restoration Flagships, and the Kingdom's re-election as Chair of the Executive Council of the Arab Administrative Development Organization.
Among its decisions, the Cabinet approved a visa exemption agreement with Greece for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports; authorized the finance minister, as chairman of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, or a deputy, to sign a draft double taxation and tax evasion agreement with Argentina; and approved memoranda with Syria's Ministry of Local Administration and Environment on municipal and housing affairs and with Djibouti's National Agency for Persons with Disabilities on disability care.
It also authorized the Insurance Authority's chairman, or a deputy, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum with the Guernsey Financial Services Commission on training and competency development, approved a memorandum between the King Fahd National Library and the National Library of Poland, and designated May 12 of each year as Organ Donation Day.
