Saudi Arabia's informatics team left today for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to compete in the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026), which runs from August 9 to 16 with students from nearly 100 countries.

The team consists of four high school students trained under the supervision of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

This is the Kingdom's eighth appearance at the Olympiad. In its seven earlier participations, Saudi students won 11 international awards, among them seven bronze medals and four certificates of merit.

Founded in 1989, the IOI is one of the world's leading computer science contests for high school students, testing problem analysis, algorithm design and programming.
