Raghadan Park in Al-Baha Region shows how tourism projects can be built while protecting a site's natural and environmental assets.
Thick juniper woodland, greenery and recreational facilities designed to fit the landscape draw residents and visitors alike, with the trees offering natural shade and pleasant places to sit among the green.
In carrying out its projects, Al-Baha Municipality took account of how dense the trees are, how far they extend and how they are distributed.
Footpaths wind between the junipers, following the natural lie of the land and the layout of the trees, so that visitors can move around and use the facilities without harming the vegetation.
The same care was applied to the park's valleys and flood channels, whose natural courses were kept intact and factored into planning and construction.
