Six days before the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 27) opens in Jeddah, the Local Organizing Committee has introduced Dheeban, the tournament's official mascot, inspired by the Arabian wolf.
The Arabian wolf is an endangered species native to the Kingdom and, in Gulf heritage, a symbol of courage, intelligence and strength. Organisers said the mascot also represents Saudi generosity and hospitality and the long-standing historical and social bonds among Gulf peoples.
Dheeban will greet fans at the stadiums and side events, adding an interactive touch to the fan experience and reflecting the Gulf Cup's special place in the memories of the region's football supporters.
Eight teams are split into two groups: Group A has Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Kuwait, and Group B has Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Yemen.
