The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) has included the General Authority for Statistics' (GASTAT) Request Assessment and Decision (RAD) tool in the UN Handbooks on Household Surveys as a practical example of professional practice that improves survey design and implementation, while commending GASTAT's methodology for designing and managing surveys.

The inclusion amounts to international recognition of GASTAT's approach to planning, designing and managing surveys, and reflects the level of statistical development Saudi Arabia has reached. The handbook describes the methodology as a structured and rigorous process that ensures surveys meet high standards of quality, accuracy and relevance.

According to the handbook, this adds value to data and makes it more useful for public policy and for the Sustainable Development Goals. The work goes hand in hand with investment in statistical methods and tools in the Kingdom in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

RAD is one product of GASTAT's continuing effort to build national statistical tools and methods, develop institutional capacity and turn its survey experience into practical, sustainable tools that raise the quality of statistical work.
