The Cabinet, meeting yesterday in Jeddah under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, stated that the terrorist Houthi militia had carried out criminal attacks on civilian and economic facilities in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, and was still targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea and threatening freedom of international navigation, according to Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary.
In his statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session, Al-Dossary said the Cabinet affirmed that the Kingdom will keep defending its sovereignty, protecting the security of its citizens and residents and safeguarding its national assets. The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's categorical rejection of the hostile approach and criminal conduct of the extremist militia, which threatens the stability of the brotherly Republic of Yemen and the Arab and Islamic region. It ordered the highest level of care and medical attention for those injured in the terrorist attacks and prayed to Allah Almighty for their swift recovery and for the Kingdom's continued security and stability.
At the start of the session, the Crown Prince briefed ministers on his consultations and talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, which focused on bilateral relations with these brotherly and friendly countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields.
The Cabinet voiced the Kingdom's support for joint Arab efforts to stop the Israeli occupation's violations and attacks against Jerusalem and the occupied territories, to confront its blatant actions in Palestine, and to counter expansionist policies, settlement activity and displacement that violate international law.
Reviewing the Kingdom's participation in regional and international meetings, the Cabinet underlined its commitment to closer communication and coordination with countries and organizations and to multilateral action on global challenges, development and prosperity. It welcomed the memorandum of understanding signed by the Saudi and German foreign ministers to establish a strategic dialogue and develop bilateral cooperation. It praised the success of the 26th Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah and Visit Research in improving coordination among Hajj and Umrah bodies, raising service quality for pilgrims and supporting decisions based on scientific studies, and commended the outcomes of LEAP 2026, where initiatives, agreements and investments worth nearly $15 billion were announced in AI infrastructure, data centers, cloud computing, technology manufacturing, venture capital and national capacity development.
Ministers also described new investment projects under the Water Industries and Services Localization Program as a strategic step in moving the sector from importing and operating technology to developing, manufacturing and exporting it, building on accumulated expertise and integrated infrastructure to create more reliable supply chains and a competitive industry.
Among its decisions, the Cabinet approved an agreement with the Kingdom of Spain on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports; approved an agreement with the Swiss Confederation on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments; authorized the governor of the Saudi Central Bank, or a deputy, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Bank Indonesia on cooperation in central banking; and approved a memorandum of understanding between the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and the Muslim World League on serving the Arabic language.
