Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah co-chaired, with France, the United Kingdom and Canada, a high-level meeting in New York entitled "The Road Ahead: One Year after the New York Declaration and the Comprehensive 20-point Peace Plan for Gaza."
In his address, Prince Faisal welcomed the steps taken by France, the United Kingdom, Canada and a growing number of other countries to recognise the State of Palestine, and urged those that have not yet done so to follow suit.
He stressed the need to confront settlement expansion, settler violence and annexation policies, to preserve the historical and legal status quo of Al-Quds, and to reject violence, hatred and incitement by any party.
On Gaza, he called for the full and immediate implementation of US President Donald Trump's comprehensive plan to end the conflict, with unhindered access for aid, leading to the unification of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank under the Palestinian National Authority.
Prince Faisal said security must rest on shared interests rather than come at another party's expense, adding that establishing an independent Palestinian state and ending the occupation are essential foundations for regional security and stability.
He reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the Arab Peace Initiative, the relevant UN resolutions and the New York Declaration.
