Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Economic and Development Affairs Deputyship, took part today in the joint ministerial meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Jerusalem, representing Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.

The meeting was held in New York during the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Participants reviewed the latest developments in Jerusalem and stressed the need to preserve the historical and legal status quo of the city and its holy sites. They rejected any attempt to change Jerusalem's Arab, Islamic and Christian character and demanded an immediate end to the continuing violations by the Israeli occupation against holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

They also discussed ways to strengthen joint Arab and Islamic action to protect the city and uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and urged the international community and the UN Security Council to protect the holy sites and enforce international law and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
