Social responsibility is spreading quickly in Saudi Arabia as a driver of sustainable development and of partnership among the public, private and non-profit sectors. Saudi Vision 2030 has made the field an enabler of economic and social development and a way for the private sector to contribute more to society, the environment and the economy.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development is leading regulatory and development work in this area, building frameworks and national initiatives that turn these practices into institutions and make companies partners in sustainable development.
The Kingdom ranked 16th worldwide on the Social Responsibility Index in the 2024 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook. More than 2,145 companies are registered on the ministry's National Platform for Social Responsibility (NPSR), and the value of initiatives has passed SAR5 billion. The share of major companies with social responsibility programs has risen to 72%.
The NPSR brings the three sectors together and helps companies achieve a real development impact by steering their initiatives toward national priorities, the sustainable development goals and Vision 2030. Its strategic pillars include spreading a culture of social responsibility in business, helping firms build lasting partnerships and directing contributions toward priority projects.
March 23 is marked each year as Social Responsibility Day in the Kingdom. This year the ministry launched an awareness campaign under the slogan 'We Commit to Our Social Responsibility', presenting social responsibility as a lasting institutional practice and encouraging companies to take on high-impact initiatives.
Riyadh will host the second Global CSR Forum on October 5–6, 2026, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the first edition held in October 2024 under the theme 'From Commitment to Impact'. The forum is expected to serve as an international platform for sharing expertise, strengthening cross-sector cooperation and showcasing approaches to maximize the impact of social responsibility initiatives.
