The Roads General Authority has launched a joint awareness campaign with a national brand to strengthen road safety for pilgrims and road users during the 1447 AH Hajj season, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The campaign will spread safety messages through the company's products and both parties' media platforms. Its aims are to encourage safe driving, reduce traffic accidents, keep traffic flowing on the roads leading to the holy sites and provide a safe, comfortable journey for pilgrims.
The authority highlighted three routes in particular: the Riyadh–Taif road, the Al-Sail Al-Kabir road linking Makkah and Taif, and the Al-Hijrah road linking Madinah and Makkah.
The authority said the roads sector is a vital enabler of the Hajj and Umrah system. It oversees and regulates the sector by setting policies and legislation and works towards the goals of the Roads Sector Program, which centre on safety, quality and traffic density.
According to the authority, the Kingdom ranks first in the world on the road network connectivity index, which helps pilgrims travel smoothly and safely. It said it will continue working to improve traffic flow during the Hajj season, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the goal of making the Kingdom a global logistics hub.
For residents planning to drive on these routes during the season, the campaign is a reminder that careful driving protects both pilgrims and other road users.
