His Royal Highness Prince Fawaz bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Taif, inaugurated projects to develop and expand oncology and blood disease services at King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital, part of Taif Health Cluster, at a total cost of more than SAR 2.1 million, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The projects include the establishment and equipping of a specialised department for blood diseases and blood cancers, supported by Sheikh Mulhi bin Salamah bin Saidan and his brothers through Awqaf Al-Shakireen, as well as additional medical devices and equipment. They are intended to raise capacity, improve service quality and make specialised care easier to reach for patients in Taif Governorate and surrounding areas.

The projects also support the capabilities and capacity of the radiotherapy centre for cancer patients and provide specialised services for patients with cancers and blood diseases, with the aim of improving patient satisfaction and treatment experience.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rubaie, head of the hospital's oncology centre, said the opening of the blood cancer department will allow cases to be diagnosed inside the hospital and strengthen the integration of specialised services for patients.

The cluster said the projects extend its efforts to sustain specialised services, treat patients within the governorate, reduce medical referrals outside the cluster's facilities and attract national medical talent. For families in Taif, that means fewer trips elsewhere for cancer care.
